Author Spotlight - Cindy Dorminy

Cindy Dorminy talks about her latest novel In A Nutshell, which will be released on June 8, returning to a familiar setting and why she had to tell this story.

What should readers expect from In a Nutshell?

Readers can expect a small-town romance set in rural Georgia. The cast of characters range from a close knit family, awesome friends, and meddling old biddys. Those who have read “Jam” and “Pickle” will be excited to see some old friends.

What inspired your novel?

I loved Mitch in “Jam” and “Pickle” so much that I felt he deserved his own story. True story: I wrote Mitch’s story three different ways before I decided I did him justice.

What kind of research did you have to do for the book?

I didn’t know anything about the roles a hospital attorney would have. I’m lucky I have attorney friends that helped me out. Also, I did extensive research on pies, especially those that have a crust made out of nuts.

What was your favorite part of writing this book?

Showing the out of towner how endearing small-town living can be, and finally giving Mitch his well-deserved happily ever after.

Share a fun fact about yourself.

I’m pretty boring, but back in the 90s, I was a competitive bodybuilder. I still workout almost every day because I like the way it makes me feel.
