Author Spotlight - Royaline Sing
Debut authorRoyaline Singdiscusses her novel Betting on a Duke's Heart, what she's working on next and give us a peek at her #tbrlist.
Tell us about your novel.
My debut, a late Victorian era romance, BETTING ON A DUKE'S HEART will be released on 19th April 2021. You would find a dashing duke, a strong heroine, horses, and a bit of Indian Mythology (Mahabharat in this book's case) in it.
Here is a summary.
Aetius White, the Duke of Saxton, couldn't save his father, but he'll be damned if he won't save the man’s dream. He'll acquire a Triple Crown–winning horse at any cost, even marriage. Luckily, the lovely lady in mind loves challenges as much as he. Certainly, he can win her heart without losing his own…
Hell will freeze over before Miss Dina Campbell agrees to marry a horse-mad man who wants her dowry of a prize stallion, no matter what her father wants. The duke may be handsome, but he’ll have to prove he is a suitable match for her before she’ll even consider the offer. And there’s no way this love-averse man will ever succeed with the wager that she has planned…
What would your dream casting be for your main character(s)?
Ooooh, I would love to get Hrithik Roshan play as the bareback duke (that's Aetius' rumored name in the book for reasons you will know once you read :-D ) and Deepika Padukone. Perhaps you will not recognize the names but the bollywood hotties are my fav fave!
Here is my attempt at it on Insta for Aetius.
What inspired your novel.
I love Mahabharat (Indian mythology). It fascinated me since my childhood when the first TV show about it aired in Indian television on the only available Government channel. Now there are multiple versions of it on various channels. One of the love stories stayed with me for years. Once I grew up and I picked historical romances to read I fell in love with the supposedly dashing dukes and heroines bringing them to their knees. And last but not the least: horses. I have only ridden a horse ONCE for a few mins but I love them. I started reading about Royal Kolkata Turf club and how passionate people could be about the horses as well as the game itself.
All of it resulted in Betting on a Duke's heart. I hope I was able to bring the flavor to the readers.
What are you currently working on?
Another book! You will read about few friends of Aetius and Dina in this book who should have their own romances. Thanks to pandemic I didn't have as much focus as I should have in finishing them, but I'm hoping to finish the lazy rake Viscount Westbrook's tussle with a very independent Glecia Silvers soon. And then fingers crossed it would be a book!
What are you reading lately?
Romances and Romances. What I mean is historical and some contemporary rom coms. I am a through and through escapist, and won't read a book without a HEA/HFN. I tend to enjoy soft or steamy historical more often but lately I have been picking up contemporary romances too.
I enjoyed a few ARCs from fellow debuts, including your fun romp of WHEN WE'RE THIRTY! What kept me sane during the whole publishing journey were these books too - A ROGUE TO REMEMBER by Emily Sullivan, MEET ME IN PARADISE by Libby Hubschur HEART ON A LEASH by Alanna Martin, A LADY'S FORMULA OF LOVE by Elizabeth Everet. BIG BAD WOLF by Suleikha Snyder is on my immediate TBR!
ABOUT ROYALINE
I am Royaline Sing and I write historical romances. I live in Cleveland, Ohio, juggle a bank day-job and my passion for writing, through the noise of two lovely children. I love samosas (there is always at least one box in my freezer), travel (currently only in imagination), and Bollywood movies (all that dreamy romance, fully packaged with songs and dances).
