Heart on a Leash is an Alaskan-set Romeo and Juliet, but with huskies and a happily ever after. My heroine Taylor grew up hating the feud that split her small town into sides, and couldn't wait to get out. But a family emergency forces her home, and one of the first people she meets is a new guy in town. Taylor doesn't realize he's related to her family's rival until after they hit off--oops. And, of course, their families do not approve of their relationship!

What was the inspiration for Helen, Alaska and the family feud in Heart on a Leash?
I love stories about complicated families and people who are willing to take risks for the sake of love. My family's own history is filled with people who angered their parents/families in order to marry the person they chose. I literally wouldn't be here if they hadn't. So in some ways, this story is for them.
Are you a cat or a dog person?
Both! Unfortunately, we have neither right now, so Heart on a Leash is a bit of wish fulfillment.
What are your interests outside of writing?
I love hiking and being outdoors, and in the past couple of years I've gotten very into cross stitch. And reading, obviously!
What are you currently working on?
All three books in my Hearts of Alaska series are written and turned into my editor, so I'm starting to figure out the next contemporary romance I'm going to work on. I'm also working on a romantic fantasy, just because I can't seem to stick to one project or genre.
ABOUT ALANNA
Growing up, Alanna Martin wanted to be an astronaut, a doctor, and an actor – possibly all at once. After nine years of studying psychology, she somehow became a writer instead. This turned out to be the best career choice of all because she can work in her pajamas while drinking wine. She firmly believes in the power of fluffy books, long walks in the woods, and that there’s no such thing as too much coffee.
